Hot Seats

2025
EGS, Drexel University

Hot Seats is a musical chairs-inspired game played with a circle of chairs and a group of players. At the start of the game, each player is given goals that can be completed to earn points, such as sitting next to a specific other player, convincing a certain player to move, and helping another player achieve their goal. It utilizes a combination of individual and group goals to require both strategic thinking and careful negotiation, creating an incredibly unique experience that provides insight into how people work together under pressure.
Hot Seats is a playful reflection of an inherently human experience – finding balance between achieving our individual goals and doing right by our communities. Its focus on fast-paced negotiation and multi-person strategy allows us to explore the dynamics of collaboration between small groups of people in a fun, musical chairs-inspired game environment. Its physical, face-to-face nature allows players to interact and strategize the same way they would in real-world negotiation scenarios and engage in playful physical action with one another, making it a compelling experience in its own right.
